For months Holland Bakker has invented excuses to descend into the subway station near her apartment, drawn to the captivating music performed by her street musician crush. Review: I loved everything about Roomies, right from page one. I loved Holland's crush for Calvin, the way the first meet, Calvin's sweetness towards her even when they were still pretending, the easy way they mesh together. I was crushed when I realized Calvin hadn't told his family the truth about his marriage. I actually wanted to cry with Holland when he was moving out. I was rooting for them and I found their love story simply beautiful.

 

I can't say Roomies is a masterpiece of modern literature, but it's very well written, the characters are compelling, the plot has the right amount of twists to keep readers glued to the story and the romance is movie-worth. I smiled, laughed and cried reading Roomies, I stayed up late to finish it because I couldn't bear the thought of going to sleep without making sure everything was OK again between Calvin and Holland. I would have liked to get a follow up of where they ended up with Calvin's family and Holland's parents, but that was the only thing I found missing.
