Review: The Rogue was the first book I read by Katharine Ashe and I'm sorry to say I was a bit disappointed. First, it is advertised as book one in the Devil's Duke series, but after just a few pages I had the distinct feeling that I was missing something important - so I researched and apparently there is a previous series by the same author, the Falcon Club, that you are supposed to read first. I didn't and I think The Rogue doesn't work well as a stand alone book, so the beginning of the book was extremely confusing.

The best feature of The Rogue are the dialogs between Constance and Saint, which vary from amusing to downright hilarious in places, but that's about it. The plot is hard to get into and the whole suspense side of it sounds weak and unrealistic.

I'm rating The Rogue with three stars just for the quality of the writing and the dialogs, but it's clearly not a book I would actively recommend and at this point I'm not really keen on exploring the other books in the series.
